Voices of Hofstra University: SoLo

I hate to do this to a fellow Long Islander but I can't say I'm a fan of 17 year old, Pat “SoLo” Jamieson hailing from Hofstra University.

His producer and manager both had a lot of great things to say about SoLo and were actually great guys themselves, which makes this post just that much harder to write. But, there's no shame in honest journalism and I'm here to speak the truth.

side note: (FREE ASSANGE!)

Though, I wasn't planning on putting up anything about him (out of loyalty to Long Islanders) Good Music All Day just featured him on their site and I had to combat their good review.

SoLo, with his new track Party, seems to be trying way too hard to meet the main stream standards that most college rappers have established. Little piece of advice to ALL up and coming rappers, in college, out of college, high school I don't care, raise the standards don't just try to meet them.

SoLo's music, especially this track, sounds like a boy band with one rapper. Think Dream Street meets old school Lil' Romeo or three Justin Biebers and one Justin Bieber rapper.

Performance wise, SoLo can command a crowd but if you're actually paying attention to him you can see him lip sync the auto tune parts of his song. Really?

I can't say his music isn't up beat and can probably be a hit at some party (not any party I go to). But music quality wise, one hundred percent thumbs down for this kid. Apparently, he's getting calls from record labels all over, according to his manager. I don't see him as record label material, but then again what do I know? I'm just your target audience.

SoLo is just trying too hard to be a college style rapper. Aim higher, you've got potential.

Check his tracks out nevertheless, and decide for yourself.

His new video "Movin' Out"

I don't recommend him nor do I think his music is worth too much of anyone's time. So let's skip all that.
