Voices of the Night: OCD: Moosh & Twist

The much anticipated midnight drop (give or take a few hours) of The Welcome Mat is finally here, after a fan-frenzy and a surprise video drop, which I'll include below. The Philly duo's national fan base has been posted up, laptops in hand, incessantly clicking the tiny yet oddly daunting words, "It's Coming ... " at the bottom of their site, for weeks. Yes, weeks.

Luckily, fans were rewarded earlier today with a surprise music video accompanying their banging track, Take Me Back.

I'm also including a visual of how crazy people were getting over the drop, just goes to show the level of loyalty these 18 - year - old rappers have cultivated.

The 6 -track - mixtape was well worth the wait. The Welcome Mat is what is lying between contemporary hip hop and the door back to the golden era of rap. Backpack rap is back and Moosh and Twist put their own new age spin on the old school style, especially evident in their song Blue Pill.

The rugged quality of Twist's voice compliments Moosh's smooth flow and adds a tight dynamic to the conversation the duo always seem to have in their tracks.

Dream On with Lena Taylor is an especially exemplary showcase of their capabilities as artists, listen to it you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

Get the mixtape right here.

Check out the build up to the mixtape drop.
