I first posted about Outasight after discovering his music when he opened for Hoodie Allen at Webster Hall. All signs point to the fact that he's moved up a few steps since then. I've never actually watched The X Factor (I'm allowed to admit that, right?), but it's satisfying to see that an artist I believe has a lot of potential is being acknowledged by the mainstream.
At a much larger venue, and with an entire dance crew to back him up, Outasight sings his new single, Tonight is the Night, with enthusiasm. In general I would describe his music as pop-hip hop, though this song leans heavily to the pop side. There's something to be said for knowing your audience. Outasight fortunately doesn't let the venue swallow him and definitely maintains some stage presence (along with his fedora-clad DJ), even if circumstances seem intimidating. For the most part he doesn't 'lose control' of his vocals and finishes strong. Overall a big congratulations to Outasight, let's keep up the momentum!
