After a long wait, one of my personal favorites comes back to announce their upcoming album release on June 8th: Biscuits & Gravy. This Berklee College of Music jazz/funk/R&B outfit dropped a little two-track download as a taster before the real deal; Hello Weekend.
We've already heard their first single, Serenade, on the basis of which I became a fan of the group. Biscuits & Gravy are real students, like you and me, and their music feels down to earth because of it. Their second single, just released is called (Girl You are a) Freak, and deals with a little bit of rejection and a lot of dancefloor romance. The style stays consistent with that funky, mellow feel which the group capitalizes on with an updated, young quirkiness. I would even say that the vocals take some influences from hip-hop, expertly mixing up old and new.
